The University of Miami Counseling Center’s after-hours crisis line is available around the clock, every day of the year, made possible through its partnership with Protocall.
When a University of Miami student reaches a difficult moment late at night or over a holiday weekend, help is just one phone call away. The University of Miami Counseling Center (UMCC) has offered a 24/7 after-hours crisis line since 2015, and Protocall is proud to be the partner behind it.
For more than 30 years, HelpNow by Protocall has set the industry standard for round-the-clock access to high-quality crisis care. As part of the WelltrackEcosystem, an integrated suite of behavioral health solutions, we connect university counseling centers across the country with trained counselors who are ready to respond at any hour. In addition to HelpNow, the University of Miami also utilizes Welltrack Boost, our digital wellness and prevention app, giving students on-demand tools to support their wellbeing before a crisis ever arises.
At UM, students who call (305) 284-5511 and select option 1 are immediately connected to a Protocall-trained crisis counselor. Counselors are equipped to support students experiencing anxiety, depression, academic stress, relationship concerns, and thoughts of self-harm. Every call is supervised by a licensed clinician, and following the call, UMCC staff receive the relevant information to follow up with recommended next steps.
UMCC Executive Director Dr. Rene Monteagudo has described the center’s mission as ensuring that every University of Miami student knows support is available whenever they need it, day or night, so no one has to navigate difficult moments alone.
Protocall is proud to support that mission. Our partnership with the University of Miami reflects what we do for counseling centers nationwide: providing the crisis infrastructure that keeps students connected to care, even when offices are closed.
